Millea Bros. Ltd. is the culmination of
Michael and Mark Millea's fifteen years of experience in the auction
and appraisal business. While conducting countless appraisals and
managing the sale of thousands of objects at auction, the brothers
gained comprehensive knowledge of the antiques and collectibles
market. The company is grounded in their mutual love of art and
antiques and their desire to provide their clients with high-quality
property and unmatched personal attention.
Both Milleas have shared an interest in
the arts since childhood. Each completed undergraduate degrees in
art history and fine art, Michael at Drew University, and Mark at
Cornell University. Following college, the brothers shared a painting
studio and began to explore careers in the arts. Michael went on
to attend the Appraisal Studies program at New York University,
while Mark delved into the New York retail art market.
After completing the Appraisal Studies program, Michael
joined a regional New Jersey auction company -- Mark followed shortly
thereafter. The Milleas quickly rose to senior positions in the
firm. Michael became the lead appraiser and principal auctioneer
while Mark concentrated on business development, operations and
online auction sales.
Michael is a current member of the Appraisers Association
of America and has been actively involved in the organization for
the past five years. He has completed the course requirements and
examination on the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice
(USPAP), the congressionally-recognized set of appraisal standards
promulgated by the Appraisal Foundation. Michael also has been a
participant in the PBS television series, Antiques Roadshow
and was a regular guest appraiser on the Metro Channel's Antique
Show & Sell.
